To contain the nearly 42 million liters of water, hyperbolic paraboloids were raised in concrete, recreating the shapes of the water lily. Suspended as a cone in the water, the Oceanogràfic bursts into a glass bubble. It is the largest aquarium in Europe. Located within the avant-garde architectural complex of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, this area faithfully reproduces the most important marine ecosystems.
